About the Author: Jim Gitney, an engineer with an MBA spent 27 years in corporate America with GE, Black & Decker, Sunbeam and Rain Bird. In 2004, he founded Group50® Consulting and has worked with over 200 companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 50 helping them realize hundreds of millions of dollars in cost improvements. He has led or supported 11 financial and operational restructurings and held positions ranging from the stock room to the board room. As a result of these experiences, he developed the Business Hierarchy of Needs® as an integrated change management framework for developing strategy and turning it into results. During my 45 years of corporate and consulting experience with companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 50, I have learned what to do and what should never be done from some of the best and worst leaders. I have often thought to myself, “I wish I knew this 45 years ago.” It would have made things a lot easier. I created the Business Hierarchy of Needs® in 2013 to give you food for those thoughts and have been using it in my consulting practice ever since. I wrote this book to provide you, the reader with a high-level view of how a business should be run and the critical elements that need to be addressed.
