Executive Summary:
Product development is the single most important function

required for optimizing the people, processes, and technologies
utilized to develop, describe, manage, and communicate your
product data or digital intellectual property (i.e. product
specifications, concept layouts, MCAD & ECAD data, drawings,
manufacturing plans, etc.).
The detailed deliverables will enable Senior Executives
to align and energize your organization behind key strategies,
initiatives, and best practices to accelerate product development
cycles, reduce waste, and improve collaboration.
Approach:
We will use Group50’s milestone-based process for
Managing Product Development (MPD) as a basis for conducting
the Product Development Physical. We will also evaluate
your performance and capabilities based upon our extensive
experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.
Key to assessing your product development process is prioritizing
the business strategies, initiatives, and key performance
indicators (KPI’s) important to your Executive Management
Team. With this data in hand, interviews with Senior
Managers, Product Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, Purchasing,
Sales, and other key personnel will extract the information
necessary to assess how well your company performs the fundamentals
of product development: product definition; product
data management; change and configuration management; project
management; collaboration; and release-to-manufacturing.
Deliverables:
After the audit, we will provide a detailed report of our
findings, including:
- Prioritized list of critical product development
objectives
- Concise report that identifies key process and capability
gaps
- Detailed roadmap to fill the gaps essential to realizing
your strategy
- Applicability of Group50’s MPD process
- Applicability of PLM software
